About Morgan

I am a recent graduate with my Master's in Speech Language Pathology from UT. I have a Bachelor's in Special Education also from UT. In my Master's program I completed a concentration in Aural Habilitation and Teaching Literacy to Children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and typical hearing children as well.

I specialize in tutoring preschool, elementary, and middle school age in reading, spelling, and literacy. I enjoy working with children and encourage parent involvement and activities that can be carried over into the home environment.

I have extensive training in teaching literacy and phonological awareness activities.

Spelling is not easy but there are tricks and tips that can help struggling spellers.

Please feel free to contact me to set up lessons. I am willing to travel to Karns, Farragut, and Oak Ridge Public Libraries.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a Master's in Speech Pathology with a concentration in Literacy Instruction and a Bachelor's in Special Education. I have clinical experience working with elementary and middle school age kids with spelling, reading, math, social studies, science, and language arts. Speech pathologists are trained to help find ways to facilitate learning and language development in the classroom.

Hard Of Hearing

I have my Master's in Speech Pathology as well as a concentration in Aural Habilitation. I have extensive training in working with children and adults with hearing loss in auditory only therapy settings. I am familiar with assistive technology including hearing aids, FM systems, and cochlear implants and basic troubleshooting.

Special Needs

As a Speech Pathologist I have worked with several children with special needs and learned how to adapt and make their education as individualized as possible. I have experience with children that use assistive technology as well including eye gaze systems and low tech AAC devices.

Speech

I am a Speech Pathologist with experience in treating speech sound disorders, language delay, fluency, voice disorders, cleft lip and palate, children with hearing impairments, children with autism, and multiple disabilities.

Study Skills

I have experience teaching study skills and organization tools that can be used in the classroom. As a speech therapist, we are taught ways to facilitate learning in different ways that are individualized to the student's learning style.
