About Logan

I am currently a senior at the University of Tennessee working on my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering! As such I have had a lot of work with mathematical, scientific, and computing courses. I have spent the past five years tutoring mostly high school students in math and science.

I have some professional experience working at engineering internships. Outside of academia I have made hobbies of getting outdoors backpacking and playing music.
I have spent the past five years tutoring mostly high school students in math and science. Essentially, I would review content all the way from basic arithmetic to calculus and trigonometry, concepts for the ACT, chemistry, and physics. The most gratuitous part about tutoring is seeing the epiphany moment, when my student recognizes and grasps the content.

I have tutored this for the past five years along with applying it everyday in my own course work.

I have tutored on basic kinematics, mechanics, fluid concepts, and electricity; courses including AP Physics B and Physics C.

I have studied a few languages including Latin, German, French, and Spanish. I apply these studies to help structure vocabulary usage, and derive multiple ways to learn vocabulary.

I own multiple Apple products and use them for multiple tasks from graphics and audio editing, programming, and computations.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I use Algebra I techniques to solve many problems within the scope of my coursework. This is something I have tutored high school students in for the past five years.

Linear Algebra

Per my curriculum I have had to take a Linear algebra/matrix computations class. We worked through theoretical concepts, relationships and operations from Gauss-Jordan Elimination, finding determinants up to applications of Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors, and transforming matrices in a project to write a code for .jpeg file compression.

Logic

Depending upon the scope of logic; this is something that I have to apply everyday in my course studies. Particularly within the scope of my manufacturing engineering internships, I have had plenty of logical problems presented to me. From these problems I have had to create methods and solutions to these problems.

Macintosh

Depending upon the scope of what tutoring in Macintosh entails I can certainly show most processes. I have owned a Macbook Pro for seven years now. I use it daily with apps like MATLAB, MS Word, Steinberg's Cubase, LaTeX, etc.. I have utilized functions like boot camp, time machine, disk utility, etc. I also have own multiple iPhone's and iPad's.

MATLAB

This is used in all of my classes at this point. We use this to solve higher order differential equations, partial differential equations, create functions to approximate values and vectors within a certain degree of error. I've used this to create functions, GUI's, and just general high-level programming language structures.

Mechanical Engineering

I am currently a senior in the mechanical engineering program at UT. I couldn't necessarily help with every single class, but a vast majority of the freshman, sophomore and junior level classes I could tutor in. This could include topics like statics, dynamics, mechanics, thermodynamics, circuits.

Microsoft Windows

I have used Windows OS through many different iterations starting back with 98 to 7 Pro and 8.1 currently. I use it for such operations as word processing, CAD, and additive manufacturing control. Technically I use mac hardware, however, in order to support the CAD software I use boot camp to do so.

Patient & knowledgeable

Logan taught my son some of the pre-algebra concepts that he was having a difficult time mastering. He found Logan to be very good at explaining the subject matter. He thought Logan was very helpful! We will definitely call on him again!
