I just graduated with my Master's in English. I have experience in proofreading, reading, writing, literature, rhetoric, technical communication, and other aspects of English. I am also a photographer and a violinist.
I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in English, specializing in Technical Communication. I then went on to pursue my Master of Arts degree in English, specializing in Rhetoric. While I was a graduate student, I tutored at the UT Writing Center. While tutoring, I attended mandatory classes on how to be an effective tutor, and how to work with students of all ages and majors. I was a graduate assistant in freshman composition courses, and then I went on to teach my own composition classes (both English 101 and 102.) I also took a graduate course on ESL teaching.
I started playing violin at age 4, and studied with private teachers until I graduated from college. In high school, I qualified and attended both the All East and All State competitive orchestras. I spent 11 years as a member of the Knoxville Youth Orchestra Association, and then joined the University of Tennessee Symphony Orchestra in college. I played professionally (at weddings and other special occasions) from my sophomore year of high school until I entered graduate school. I also played professionally with a Symphony Orchestra. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been playing the violin for 23 years. I worked as a professional violinist from 2005 until 2013. I took violin lessons from childhood all the way through college. I also took voice lessons and sang in the women's choir in college.
I worked as a photographer for the University of Tennessee's newspaper, The Daily Beacon. Between my undergraduate and graduate studies, I worked for PictureMe Portrait Studios as a portrait photographer and sales associate.
I have been playing violin for 23 years. I qualified and attended both the All-East and the All-State for Tennessee, all three years I was eligible to compete. I was a member of the University of Tennessee Symphony Orchestra, and took private lessons with Miroslav Hristov. I also participated in UT's chamber groups, opera orchestra, and women's choir. I played professionally for 8 years, as a wedding violinist and, for part of that time, as a member of the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra.
I began singing in college, at the University of Tennessee. I took class voice, and was a member of the UT Women's Chorale. During graduate school I joined the Knoxville Choral Society, an audition-only men and women's choir.
