Robert Frost spoke some of the finest words I have ever heard. He stated, “I am not a teacher, but an awakener.” A teacher is an awakener of the future. These methods are the present to truly shaping the future of every vocation. My teaching philosophy reflects this sentiment. Education awakens the mind by providing creative approaches and discipline to activate necessary learning. It is important that a teacher can be an awakener in this world of fast pace and internet technology. One must be ready to teach the effective strategies to incorporate the growing connections to technology in everyday classroom sessions. My work experience in the social science field has made me an awesome tutor. I have an distinctive background in teaching, research, and as a published political analyst. I am a proven social scientist with years of experience and knowledge.

An effective teacher must be willing to use all tools necessary to impact their students’ learning. New tools have changed the approach necessary to reach today’s students. Radio, TV, and the Internet are effective tools to supplant a classroom lecture. The traditional lecture is somewhat outdated as an effective classroom tool. As student, I suffered through countless lectures from professors in a variety of classes. I strive in my teaching, and tutoring to never just use a lecture, as my only means of learning. I have had great professors who were able to use lectures, multimedia resources, internet, and other methods to teach their respective classes. These professors made learning interesting and I enjoyed learning in their classes. The modern teacher must not be afraid to go out their comfort zone to reach their classroom. The teacher willing to go the extra mile will usually find their students waiting for them at the half-way point and closer.

An effective teacher remembers the best methods that affected themselves and continues those ideas to the next classroom. It is important to preserve the concepts that are working and updated the ones that need revision. I choose to become part of positive change and leave a powerful message with my future students. As we all go into our chosen vocation, there is a teacher who has left an impact on our lives. Our profession needs more of those teachers. Our profession needs more “awakeners.”
