I LOVE math! I have been tutoring math since I was a freshman in high school and still love tutoring. I have been in the public school classroom for 5 years now, teaching for 2 years in elementary school and now in high school. I have my Master's in Mathematics and have taught and tutored college level mathematics classes for over 8 years. Two summers ago I taught a GRE math class for a scholarship program at East Tennessee State University. I currently teach remedial math at the high school level, so I am very familiar with how to present math in several different ways. I am very patient and always have a lot of fun with my students while they learn. I have varied interests so I can connect with any student, no matter their background. I LOVE math! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I teacher High School Algebra 2, Geometry, and Senior Math. I have taken almost 60 hours of Graduate courses in math and can teach everything on the ACT math part. I have tutored several students for the ACT and they have seen success.
I have taught an Algebra 1 class at the high school level. I currently teach Geometry and Senior math classes that require varying levels of Algebra. I have tutored a lot of students in Algebra 1 and 2 and they always see success.
While doing a graduate program in math, I taught 5th grade math for 2 years. I also worked with each grade level in the tech lab and got to do some tech related math with all the students. I am able to use very simple logic to explain to young students how to solve complex math problems.
Geometry is my favorite subject within math. I currently teach two Geometry classes with varying levels of students. I am good at explaining how to work with figures/pictures and have learned lots of little "tricks" through the years of teaching and tutoring.
I have my Master's in Mathematics. I took the GRE to get into grad school and scored in the 700's on the quantitative. I am very comfortable tutoring the Quantitative Section and even taught a GRE Quantitative class this summer at East Tennessee State University. Each of my students saw an increase in their score.
I have taken several math courses that specialize in logic. Math reasoning is one I took as an Undergraduate and Actuary Science is one I took as a Grad student. Also, I teach Geometry which uses a lot of logic.
