I love reading and grammar!! I was that kid who loved diagramming sentences! I have taught in the classroom for 3 years in both resource/pull out settings and full inclusion. My Master's of Education has a specialty in Special Education. I love being able to find the way each student learns and helping each one progress. I have also taught GED English and am able to help your child learn to write an essay.
I love the way words are put together to form complete thoughts. Grammar and writing are huge in our daily lives -- they both carry over between subject areas.
I love working with elementary and intermediate grades. Students are always open to learning in a variety of ways and it is wonderful to help each one. I know the education standards for the State of Tennessee which will help you make sure your child is getting appropriate help.
I have taught resource in a pull out setting as well as full inclusion. I follow IEPs to the letter and always made sure my students' accommodations were being met. I believe that every child can learn no matter the challenge.
I am patient and care about my students. I want them to understand new things so they can perform well in class but, more importantly, so they feel good about themselves and can feel confident going to school. I love reading and grammar!! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a MEd in early childhood education (Pre-K - 3) along with being Highly Qualified through Praxis testing to teach any grade through 12th except art and music. I have experience teaching students of varying levels and teaching them to get to their grade level if they are behind. I like to use a variety of teaching methods and activities in order to be able to help individualize each lesson for each child.
I am certified in Pre-K through 12th with special education certification added on. I am considered highly qualified by the state of Tennessee.
In my experience as a Special Education Resource teacher, I knew and still know that all children can learn and succeed. Each child may learn in different ways but each child can learn. I like for children to feel confident in themselves and work towards that for each student.
I have taken Praxis tests to become Highly Qualified according to the state of Tennessee and I passed each exam on my first attempt. I have had resource classrooms in both K-5 and 5-6. They included pullout programs for K-5 and both inclusion and pullout in 5-6. I taught in these classrooms for two years. I am experienced at tailoring lessons toward each individual student's needs.
I have had several students increase reading comprehension levels three grade levels within a school year (according to state standardized tests).
