VCU School of Medicine (MD)
As a doctor of medicine, I have been involved with higher education for most of my adult life. I earned my M.D. from VCU School of Medicine in 2009. I previously graduated Georgetown University with a bachelor's degree in biology in 2002. I have had vast exposure to the academic world and am fully aware of what it takes to be successful in the academia at its very highest levels. I can provide advisement to high school students seeking careers in medicine thanks to my experience from my role on the Georgetown University Alumni Admissions committee, where I interview high school students and help them make optimal choices for their educational futures. I am also well equipped to teach graduate level courses in most medical school or nursing school level classes, including biochemistry and physiology, and am very familiar with the MCAT.
While my scientific skills are highly advanced, I am also documented to be an extremely effective writer. I was the recipient of a number of grant-based scholarships from VCU when I was there. I have also been measured in the top 1% of writing sample scores on the Medical College Admissions Test. I have been affiliated as an article reviewer for Medscape Reference.
In addition to my proven academic record, I have extensive experience as a professor and private teacher. My training and experience educating people as a physician has allowed me to succeed where other teachers cannot. Further, just as every patient is different, so is every client. My aim as a physician and an educator is to provide whatever is needed for a client’s success, whether that be a traditional approach or an innovative one.
My favored subjects include any of the sciences and most of the humanities. I have vast experience tutoring biology, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, English, and psychology. I am also versed in most high school mathematics and can offer verbal reasoning training on the SAT and MCAT in particular.
My previous satisfied clients have been dedicated, invested learners seeking a mentor for college/professional school courses, or parents of high school students who have sought to recruit a proven, premium personalized resource for academic success to teach and mentor their learner.

I am preparing for the MCAT this summer, mostly for the verbal section, and Jeff immediately helped me get on track to formulate a plan on how to achieve my goals. His test taking strategies are efficient and I know will help me when I am ready for the exam. He is very honest (in a good way), approachable, thorough, and you can tell that he truly enjoys helping and tutoring students as well as getting to know them. I would definitely recommend working with him.
Very good, he is very patience. He knows what he is talking about. I totally recommend him. English is not my first language and he was able and willing to explain me the things until I understood. Just Excellent!
I have found Jeff to be very helpful in medical biochemistry. He was able to explain the information in different ways to allow for better understanding. He was knowledgeable and flexible with very quick response time!
I am very happy with this tutor. He is a great tutor with a professional and patient approach in his teaching. He is particularly beneficial to me because of his clinical medical background, which is what I am looking for in the search for an English tutor at the current time. I enjoy the teaching by this tutor and will be happy to get real improvement in my English speaking and writing with his teaching.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am well versed in mathematics up through college level calculus. From a tutoring standpoint Algebra 1 has been the most popular request and much of my work has been in that subject.

I am a veteran tutor of foreign immigrants and have helped many first and second generation students improve their English. Most of my clients so far have been foreign doctors seeking help with adjusting to American culture and language.
