I have my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and Special education, Pre-K - 3, and I have my Master's degree from University of Tennessee at Knoxville in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education. I have had my own special needs Pre-K classroom and know American Sign Language.
I am currently working as a teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing, and I love every second! Prior to teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing, I worked with Pre-K students; both with and without special needs. I have also worked in grades K-3 teaching everything from math to reading.
I love being able to work with students to help them build their confidence in themselves. Every child is able to learn, but bad experiences and frustration cause them to begin thinking that they cannot. With a little help and guidance, the little light bulb moment makes all the hard work worth it!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a master's degree in deaf and hard of hearing education. I did my internship at Tennessee School for the Deaf, and am currently working as a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing.
During my undergraduate degree, I began taking American Sign Language classes. I completed all classes offered (ASL 1-4 and fingerspelling). During my master's degree, I took ASL 3 and 4 again for a refresher. I had several classes that were taught only in ASL, and required all students to voice off and sign only. I also completed my internship at Tennessee School for the Deaf, where I had to teach daily in ASL.
