Hello! My name is Whitney. I am 31 years old and currently work in the pharmacy field as a CPhT. Before becoming a full time CPhT, I taught middle and high school sciences (Biology, Ecology, and Physical Science). I chose to leave teaching due to our current school systems focusing on everything except what really matters, the student. I found myself struggling to teach students to love learning because of unrealistic deadlines and teaching methods being forced upon me in order to cover all required material before testing time at the end of the semester. I am excited to be a tutor so that I can help struggling students find their “light bulb” and more advanced students delve deeper into what I believe is the most interesting subject to be explored, SCIENCE, all without the harsh confines of “No Child Left Behind” or strict time deadlines forcing students to move to the next lesson before they are ready.
I look forward to speaking with you to determine how I can most effectively assist your child in his/her learning career!
When I first began college, my major was elementary education. That is, until I took my first biology class. I fell in love with science and the scope of everything involved in the process of life. Shortly after finishing this class, I changed my major to Biology and never looked back. I graduated with honors and began life. I worked in several different fields, but always felt I was not where I needed to be because I wasn’t helping kids. (My brother has Autism and helping him throughout life had also guided me in this direction). So I decided to go back and get my teaching certification. After teaching in the public school system for several years, I decided to leave teaching, no matter how much I would miss my students. I then became a full time CPhT in order to help those in all walks of life be as healthy as they can be in order to be as happy as they can be.
