JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY BALTIMORE (PhD)
I have a Ph.D. in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. My passion is to mentor students to develop the skills to understand quantitative methods (statistics, biostatistics, research methods, SPSS) in the health sciences. My technique is to focus on teaching skills that will not only get the immediate task done but to develop skills for long-term success. I also work with students improving their writing skills for graduate school or researching topics for course projects. While I prefer long-term assignments scheduled ahead of time, I may be available for urgent one-time needs.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I completed one year in parametric and two quarters in non-parametric biostatistics during PhD program. I continuously enroll in monthly Webinars sponsored by the Academy of Health and the VA Health Services Research Centers. I can assist graduate students as part of their graduate degree or professionals who need to prepare proposals to be submitted for grant funding.
I learned SAS in a graduate course and worked as a Graduate Research Assistant programming in SAS for 8 years. I programmed my own dissertation analysis in SAS. I was a PhD researcher in a Data Coordinating Center for 5 years training entry level staff in SAS and reviewing accuracy of code for reports and publications. I can tutor in writing basic code on how to access and read data, import data from Excel, data management and variable creation, and statistical analysis using descriptive, multivariate, and nonparametric procedures.
I have over 20 years experience using SPSS and SAS for data analyses. I have tutored students in undergraduate, master's and Ph.D. programs taking basic statistics, multivariate statistics or application during thesis and dissertation.
