I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Science Education, with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry; in addition, I hold a Master of Science degree in Gifted and Talented Education, with a minor in Science Technology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I also hold a lifetime Teacher's Certificate from the state of Louisiana, being certified in the following areas: biology, chemistry, gifted and talented education, and supervision of student teaching. I bring to WyzAnt 30 years of teaching experience, including ten summers of teaching Honors Chemistry (high school credit) at LSU. During my career, I have taught courses in gifted and talented chemistry, honors chemistry, AP Chemistry, standard chemistry, physical science, anatomy & physiology, aerospace science, and physics. Here are a couple of reviews from previous students: "I hope this message finds you well! So I am in Gen-Chem this semester and I even though I've only been in class for two weeks, I wanted to already thank you for preparing me! We do OWLs, and let me tell you they don't hold a candle to MasteringChem In the OWLs, there are TONS of dimensional analysis problems, and all because of your class, they don't scare me or intimidate me! I completely feel like I have a leg up on the other students, which I know was your goal all along (and the goal of BGA as a whole for that matter). Although sometimes I didn't enjoy staying up until the wee hours of the morning working on chemistry, I am thankful that you challenged us, and made me a better student because of it! I can't say it better than Hebrews 12:11- "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." Thanks again!" "I have about 150 people in my chemistry class and we had our first test a couple weeks ago. the class average was a 65! There were literally like 10 people that made an A. and one of those people was me! I got a 94! I just wanted to saw thank you so much for everything you did for me these past two years! You're such a great teacher and I'm so glad I got to have you! I know some of the students *cough juniors from last year cough* might give you a hard time and say your class is too hard or whatever but they have no clue what they're talking about! I give you permission to tell the next person that complains to say layla said that they're going to regret it. I was in that same position at times, but your class has prepared me so well for college. Thank you again for everything! You're a great person and a wonderful teacher. I hope you're doing well! I'll be sure to stop by and come see you next time I'm in town!" Thank you for your consideration, and I hope to be working with you in the near future.

Helpful, patient and kind

Debbie was very detailed and patient when going over Chemistry material with our daughter. She also provided several worksheets to study. We look forward to working with Debbie again.

Incredible!

Debbie has helped improve my theoretical concepts of chemistry as well as improve my confidence with calculations by her advice on test-taking strategies and processes.

Dianna, 8 lessons with Debbie

great teacher

Debbie knows her chemistry-she is patient, funny and really knows how to help make it all come together. She is willing to work with our schedule at the location that works best for us. It has been terrific.

Carli-Jo, 3 lessons with Debbie

Very knowledgeable

My daughter enjoyed her lesson with Debbie. She helped to take the stress out of nomenclature work. We are planning another session with Debbie.

Ms Debbie is GREAT!

Ms Debbie caught me up to speed and taught me everything I needed to know so I could complete my homework successfully. She's patient and very knowledgeable. I wanted to edit this because after 2 lessons with Debbie...I went from a 72.33 test score to a 92.92 in class last week. Debbie is patient and so knowledgeable. As we say it in college she "dumbs" it down for us. I've been been able to teach a few friends after mastering her concepts. HIRE DEBBIE!!! You will be so thankful you did!
