About Scott

I am an engineer with a master's degree. I have been tutoring part time for 8 years. The majority of my students have been high school students in math classes. Getting students from low or failing grades to excelling has been one of the more fulfilling things.

I have a good history of helping students in math and science courses at all levels. The subject that I have tutored most has been Algebra II. In the course of my tutoring, I have had three students that were failing their Algebra II course. Over time I was able to work with them and help to bring their grades up to high B averages. Typically, my Algebra students had low C's and were able to raise their grades to high B's and A's.

I have also had students in high school science classes like chemistry, physics, or biology. The math courses that I have tutored have ranged from pre-Algebra to Calculus III.

My full time job is in the automotive industry. I have a wife and two children who are being homeschooled. In my spare time, I like to read and watch movies. Please contact me for more information and to make arrangements.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

As an engineer, I use algebra on a daily basis in my work. I have tutored algebra students for 8 years. Typically, my students will bring their grades up to the high B or A range from D's and C's.

Mechanical Engineering

I received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 2003. In 2004, I passed the fundamentals of engineering exam to become a licensed engineer. In 2016, I completed my master's degree in engineering.

Prealgebra

I have tutored several students in prealgebra. I actually tutored two students when I was a freshman in high school. Learning prealgebra is an important step in insuring that a student has the concept of problem solving down well to excel in the higher level math classes.
