I'm currently the director of an ESL program in Germantown, TN and have experience in tutoring children in all basic subjects, testing high school students for ACT prep, and college students for class performance improvement. I love how kids and adults light up after you can explain something in a new way that allows them to understand.
I've been gifted with natural ability to explain in simple terms which is why I was asked to take on the job as ESL director. I would love to help your child learn, I have a younger brother with ADD and have worked with students who also have ADHD. I also can work with students who are hard of hearing, soon to be able to work with deaf students as well as I learn ASL.

My favorite ages to tutor are the elementary aged students. Their desire to learn is still strong and it's my goal to keep them hungry for knowledge and not to get frustrated by things they don't understand. I have experience tutoring refugee students in this age group and have been trained on how to teach reading skills specifically to 2nd graders. I have 2 years experience working at a children's museum in Chattanooga, TN where I taught science, cooking, reading, and art.
I have experience working with these special needs. I have personal experience of growing up with a child with ADD and understand how this is a real disorder and requires real special attention for the child to succeed. I'm also able to communicate simply with ASL and am learning more to be able to fully communicate with the deaf or hard of hearing.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
