Hello there -
First, I want you to know that school CAN be fun. Really it can. If the right method is matched to your learning style, you will soon realize your potential and see that I am right. As far as I'm concerned, if you are struggling in a certain area, it isn't because you can't learn it, but rather you haven't been taught it correctly. You have been instructionally challenged. I have lots of practice working with students with varying abilities and I believe it is my job to discover what way that you will learn best and use that to help you achieve all that you can.
Secondly, you probably want to know what makes me think that I can help you. I was a teacher in the classroom for over 20 years. When my family relocated to the Cleveland, TN area, I had to leave my teaching position and have been trying to get my own business as an Educational Consultant off the ground. My company provides services to school districts, teachers and students. I have licenses in the following areas: Regular Education grades 1-6; Deaf and Hard of Hearing Pre-K - 12; and Learning disabilities Pre-K - 12. In those areas I have covered many subjects and am sure that I have the skills that will allow me to help you achieve all that you can. Hello there -

She was an excellent tutor and took time to understand what my needs were before beginning. Will definitely use again in the future if needed.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught preK through grade 12 and I have also tutored college students in the past.
As a teacher of students with Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia is one that is often overlooked until the 3rd grade at which point the student has already developed some coping strategies, some which are not helpful. I have used Barton as well as LindaMood's Lipps programs in working with students who have been diagnosed with Dyslexia.
I have been a teacher for the past 20 years and have covered all academic subjects. Most recently my work has been focused on those that are Deaf adn hard of Hearing which often means that they are a bit behind their same aged peers and therefore need work on catching up to their hearing peers.
