In addition to my current part-time and previous full-time experience teaching college-level English and journalism courses and more than 20 years as a published, professional writer and editor, I have a strong background in curriculum and training development and delivery for both classroom and online learning, working with both group and individual learners. Moreover, I have worked at the university level as a career services advisor, as a consultant developing and delivering counseling skills training for career advisors, and as a graduate student clinician providing individual and group counseling to culturally diverse university students.
I am currently serving as adjunct faculty in psychology at Metro State College of Denver and Regis University and have been teaching a range of online courses for a culturally diverse population of adult learners for Axia College of the University of Phoenix, for more than three years. Prior to this, I worked for more than five years in Human Resource Development for the U.S. Department of Labor as coordinator of the web-based online learning program for the Employment and Training Administration. There I helped to coordinate the development and implementation of the agency's online learning program, managed the grants and contracts associated with the program and supervised and delivered all training for use of the OLS to agency managers and staff.
I have two years' experience teaching undergraduate English and journalism, including participation in academic advising and curriculum development. The attached CV provides details about the professional experiences that I have mentioned, as well as about my involvement in nonprofit development and fundraising, and project management activities including grant proposal writing and promotions.
I am an effective writer, coach, consultant, and educator with an ability to envision the big picture as well as to attend diligently to essential details.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
