With 18 years of experience as both a performing artist and pedagogue, I work with students from the earliest levels to concertizing professionals, teaching and performing around the world in workshops, masterclasses, festivals, chamber classes, outreach programs, colleges, and in my online studio. My goal is to inspire students with the love of music while deepening their technical and interpretive ability. I train students to be their own best teachers, through understanding how physiology and the physics of their instrument intertwine (all while having good laughs about nerdy string ideas!).

I hold a Doctorate in Violin Performance from Stony Brook University and a Masters from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where I also completed Suzuki teacher training. My years of doctorate provided the opportunity to serve as the teaching assistant for Philip Setzer (Emerson Quartet), Hagai Shaham, and Soovin Kim. I have a thriving in-person college studio in addition to my online studio, full of budding young artists, playing everything from twinkle to orchestral audition, competition, and professional audition repertoire. I have a passion for helping violinists and violists solve technical challenges with physical and mental ease through a knowledge of violin and viola physics.

My teaching philosophy for young students revolves around the philosophies of the Suzuki method. As a Suzuki teacher, I believe that all children can learn and that music is a beautiful gift for all of us to engage in and enjoy, regardless of our choice of path or profession. Lessons draw influence from the great teachers of the 20th and 21st centuries; Galamian, Gingold, Flesch, Paul Rolland, Mimi Zweig, Dalcroze, and many others. The ultimate goal is to educate healthy, creative, well-educated individuals and young musicians who will enjoy music for their entire lives. For advanced lessons and pro coaching, my approach to teaching the violin and the viola is based on scientific research regarding kinesiology, the physics

Great teacher, very patient and knowledgeable!

Wendy is an expert and a great teacher! She is very patient and helpful. Before this lesson, I was struggling with sore shoulder when I was trying to self learn violin based on childhood memories. Wendy taught me some basic exercises to form a correct posture habit. Her explanations were very clear. I will definitely stick to this lesson.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor.

Wendy is an EXCELLENT instructor and her expertise really shows through. She also made a concerted effort to answer my questions patiently and make sure I knew a way forward and how to grow. I felt at ease during our lessons. I will be sticking with her as a tutor.
