During my senior year at Colby, I served as a Biology tutor. I was paired with first- and second-year college students who were taking introductory level Biology classes to improve understanding and raise test scores. My students consistently demonstrated great progress, and it was a rewarding experience for both sides.
While studying at Yale University, I was a teaching assistant for an undergraduate Molecular Biology course. I assisted two Yale faculty members in teaching the course by leading a discussion section of 10-15 students, preparing course materials, and grading exams and other assignments. I received great feedback and assessment reviews from my students.
I love teaching and helping students understand complex topics. I enjoy breaking things down into smaller, more manageable concepts. This passion also led me to start a podcast with my wife called "So I Married a Scientist" during which we discuss complex science in understandable ways.
Throughout my education, I have taken numerous standardized tests. Most recently, I took the GRE prior to applying to graduate school and received a 780 on the math section. Because of this, I know the tips, tricks, and methods that go into being successful on these types of exams. I'm happy to share this knowledge and help individuals as they prepare for these important exams.
In general, I have had a lifelong passion for scientific learning and discovery. Science has been my favorite subject since elementary school. I took AP Biology in high school and studied Biology and Biochemistry as an undergraduate student at Colby College. After receiving my Bachelor’s, I studied blood development and cancer progression in a research laboratory at Children's Hospital in Boston. In 2014, I earned a Master’s degree in Immunobiology from Yale University.
My favorite subjects include: Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry and Human Physiology.
