Logan here!
I am an alumnus of the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering! As such, I have spent the past seven years tutoring primarily high school and undergraduate students in mathematics from algebra to calculus, engineering from kinematics to system dynamics, and thermodynamics to fluids, basic physics, and programming courses.

I believe that one of the greatest opportunities in education is to inspire my students provoking a deeper understanding of the material; I find my students' are most successful when material is personalized and aligned in the context of their interests or aspirations. For me, I appreciate getting outdoors (backpacking, fishing, or paddling), traveling, constructing something, or playing music. Knowing what inspires my students helps me tune the material in where maybe there was only static; the most gratuitous part about tutoring is seeing the epiphany moment, when my student recognizes and grasps the content.

Overall, I have helped students improve their grade by as much as 3 letter grades, or to learning entirely new skills they tried to teach themselves. I believe that we are always learning, including myself; I am completely open to constructive criticism, and I strive for as much transparency as is appropriate. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I look forward to be part of your success!

MATLAB,

MATLAB

This is used in all of my classes at this point. We use this to solve higher order differential equations, partial differential equations, create functions to approximate values and vectors within a certain degree of error. I've used this to create functions, GUI's, and just general high-level programming language structures.
Microsoft Windows,

Microsoft Windows

I have used Windows OS through many different iterations starting back with 98 to 7 Pro and 8.1 currently. I use it for such operations as word processing, CAD, and additive manufacturing control. Technically I use mac hardware, however, in order to support the CAD software I use boot camp to do so.

Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

Per my curriculum I have had to take a Linear algebra/matrix computations class. We worked through theoretical concepts, relationships and operations from Gauss-Jordan Elimination, finding determinants up to applications of Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors, and transforming matrices in a project to write a code for .jpeg file compression.

I am currently a senior in the mechanical engineering program at UT. I couldn't necessarily help with every single class, but a vast majority of the freshman, sophomore and junior level classes I could tutor in. This could include topics like statics, dynamics, mechanics, thermodynamics, circuits.

Great patience

Logan is great. He has a lot of patience and I look forward to next time. He was able to answer any and all questions. Highly recommend to anyone who struggles with physics and science.

Brittany , 1 lesson with Logan

Knowledgeable, informative, patient and fluent in the material.

We reached out to Logan only days before my son was having a college mid-term in applied fluid dynamics. He was a knowledgeable on the subject and was a tremendous help.

Angela, 1 lesson with Logan

extremley helpful

Logan S. proved to be very knowledgeable of the material and was able to break down concepts clearly and patiently explain them.

thermodynamics

He's very clear and knowledgeable in his teachings. I highly recommend him for all your tutoring needs. He's a mechanical engineer by heart, so he's very experienced with classical mechanics

Sanjid, 5 lessons with Logan

Patient & knowledgeable

Logan taught my son some of the pre-algebra concepts that he was having a difficult time mastering. He found Logan to be very good at explaining the subject matter. He thought Logan was very helpful! We will definitely call on him again!

Christy, 5 lessons with Logan

Very prepared and thorough

Logan is a great tutor. He helped get me through the last part of my Engineering Dynamics class. I was stuck on a few concepts. Logan prepared a lesson to review the fundamental concepts and gave good examples to work through. He also provided an equation sheet that was very helpful during my review for the final. I would highly recommend Logan as a tutor. Well worth it!
