I am a 25-year-old graduate level physics student with experience tutoring students at all levels. I am currently employed by the Drexel University department of physics as a physics tutor/TA and have been tutoring math and physics for more than four years (including at my undergraduate institution). I also spent three-and-a-half months living in Izmir, Turkey where I taught young children from over 32 countries about math, science, and the American Space Program.
In terms of standardized testing I scored an 800 out of 800 on the quantitative portion of the GRE and a 680 out of 800 on the verbal. That corresponds to the 94th and 96th percentile of test takers, respectively.
I've also taken the AFOQT or Air Force Officers Qualifying test where I scored 99th percentile in academic aptitude, 99th percentile in navigator, 96th percentile in pilot, 97th percentile in verbal and 99th percentile in the quantitative portions of the test.

Ian is very knowledgeable and patient. If you don't understand something he will explain it until you do and makes sure that you really understand it. He will take something that is difficult to understand and explain it in such a way that it becomes easy. Ian responded quickly to my request for help and was on time for the appointment. He is very pleasant and does not get frustrated. You can tell that Ian really enjoys teaching and sharing his knowledge with others.
Ian is an extremely patient tutor, who is willing to explain everything from the beginning and in detail. He really makes sure that you fully understand all concepts before moving on to a new topic or to harder problems. I feel extremely comfortable asking questions because Ian doesn't make assumptions about my knowledge and naturally encourages a pleasant environment through his friendliness. Additionally, he offers great support and feedback! On top of that, Ian is flexible with timing/scheduling and very responsive to emails and texts.
Working with Ian is a pleasure, and I always feel like I learned a lot after every session!
Ian was helping my son with Calculus 1 and Physics 101 in high school. He was very flexible and offered help with all last minutes assignments.
Ian always quickly responded to all the e-mails and phone calls. He was very patient and easy to understand. My son was very impressed by Ian's knowledge.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I applied to join the air force OTS program this past year and took the AFOQT as part of the application process. My scores on the exam were as follows:
Academic Aptitude - 99 percentile
Navigator - 99 percentile
Pilot - 96 percentile
Verbal - 97 percentile
Quantitative - 99 percentile
I took two semesters of C++ in college and received an A in both courses. We used the book "Starting Out with C++ - early objects (sixth edition)" by Gaddis, Walters, and Muganda. I've also programmed in C (and python) for a graduate level mathematical physics course covering numerical simulation, Fourier transforms, etc.
I am currently a Ph.D Physics student at Drexel University.
