Hello, my name is Rebecca Myers. I originally trained as a Music Therapist (it was a big deal in KS and AZ), but upon moving to TN I realized I'd have to do something "like" music therapy. I worked in an Activity Therapy Dept of a Psychiatric Hospital, I've been the Executive Director of a Teen Shelter, and yes, I did get to do a little free-lancing actual music therapy along the way. Then I received a teaching license in TN and I've taught music in both private and public schools. I'm currently subbing in the Bristol City Schools which has given me the chance to teach civics, social studies, history, biology, math, p.e., band, choir, and alternative school. That's a wide range of experience, and my specialty is adapting. That's where the music therapy background comes in handy. Music Therapy is really just the art and science of using music in a therapeutic way. The actual therapy varies according to need. All the same techniques apply to teaching anything. You need to know the subject, and then find a way to teach it to your student that makes sense to them. Throughout the last 20 years, I've taught private voice, piano, and guitar in my home. I love helping students find that "aha" moment whatever the topic I'm teaching. Many times, it's not the subject we don't understand, but often the way it's taught. Some students need a more individualized approach.

I read the Bible from beginning to end several times and participated and taught multiple Bible studies over the years. I do not read Greek or Arabic, so I could only teach on a beginning to intermediate level on this subject.
I have passed the Music Praxis Exam for teaching in Tennessee. I studied composition at Arizona State University and received my degree in 1984. I know the basics of composition, modes, keys, chords, progressions, you name it.
Although I've never graduated from a culinary school, I've taken baking classes from a renowned chef. I took the classes because baking isn't my skill. All other cooking comes to me very easy and I've taught 3 daughters and 1 son who are all good chefs. I can teach how to cook for many or for few, how to be thrifty, or use exotic ingredients, how to stick to a recipe, or how to create. Whatever your need, I feel certain that I can help meet your culinary education needs.
