Hello, my name is Mike. I presently work with young people everyday teaching interventions such as communication, anger management, or other needed skills to help their family. I graduated from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, and hold a degree in Elementary Education. I presently have my apprenticeship license with the State of Tennessee. I have past experience actually working as a substitute teacher in the Tipton County School System. Apart from teaching, I am also a musician who has experience teaching young people to play piano as well as drums. I consider myself to be patient and very good with people.
The following is my own belief about education: Better learning begins with a better understanding of your subject. All of us have been exposed to this idea at one time or another: "just get the right answer, that's all you need to do." Unfortunately, this is not true education. Education is really understanding the process by which you get that answer. Obviously, some might say you must be referring to math; however, there are rules as well as processes for other subjects as well. I also believe in a student's learning to be relevant to his/her world to help encourage students to continue learning.
