I recently retired from my teaching position at a private high school in south Florida and have relocated to join my family. However, I love teaching and in particular teaching mathematics. So, I would like to continue working with students. I did some tutoring in the past and loved the one-on-one approach and the ability to meet individual student needs. Thus, I am interested in continuing to help students achieve their academic goals by tutoring students once again.

I love teaching and helping students to see and to understand the mathematics. I believe that in order for a student to truly understand mathematics, the student must be engaged in his/her learning. While I have set up a lesson with learning goals for the student, I do allow the student to drive the lesson. I encourage the student to ask questions and to answer questions that I ask, and to solve problems either the student or I propose. If I see that a student is struggling, I will ask leading questions to help the student solve the problem and provide varying degrees of difficulty in the problems I present, starting with a problem I believe the student would be able to successfully solve and working towards having the student solve more complex problems.
During the last thirty four years of teaching, I have taught the following math classes: Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-calculus, and AB and BC Calculus. I co-wrote the Algebra 2 book that the last school I taught at is currently using. The students that I taught in my Advanced Placement Calculus classes over the past fifteen years have consistently averaged a score of 4.6 on a 5 point scale. I hold a Bachelor's of Science degree in mathematics.
I want to help students learn, to succeed at, and to appreciate mathematics. No questions are too small! Whether I can help you through a homework assignment, to prepare for an assessment, or to explain a concept, please know that I am available, willing, and able to help you achieve the results you are interested in achieving. Feel free to contact me to ask me a question or to schedule a lesson.
