About Lamar

I am a May 2016 graduate of the Masters of Science in Geoscience program with a research concentration in Climate Science from Western Kentucky University. The coursework completed exceeds the requirements for GS-1340 Meteorology Series and graduate certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). My thesis, titled "The influence of tropical cyclones on droughts and warm season precipitation in Tennessee and Kentucky", focuses on several meteorological and climatological concepts while utilizing ArcMap for in depth statistical analysis. My meteorology coursework, acquired GIS and statistical skills with a research background in drought and tropical cyclones prepare me to be a strong candidate for a career in meteorology or GIS. As my resume illustrates, I have been able to maintain an arduous curriculum and research schedule while attending several conferences to present my research results to the general public. During my graduate career, I obtained knowledge about how several teleconnections and weather patterns affect the North American climate pertaining to drought, precipitation, and tropical cyclones. I have also done many weather briefings and reports as part of my weather forecasting coursework.

To acquire a Masters degree in Meteorology, I had to proficient in high end mathematics to understand important concepts of Meteorology. For statistical purposes in research and climatological concepts, SPSS was utilized tremendously to complete several projects.

The foundation of Atmospheric Science is based on laws of chemistry and physics. I have learned many concepts in Meteorology that were based on gas laws, laws of gravity, laws of momentum, and thermodynamics.

I will not show how smart I am but I will prove to you how much smarter you are as a student. I will reveal the potential that you have inside and that learning is not knowing everything but learning how to educate yourself when you do not know a topic. This will be a joint effort with me tutoring.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

To receive a degree in Meteorology, I had to pass Calculus courses 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Chemistry

My qualification for tutoring are my Chemistry, Statistics, and Calculus coursework. Differential Equations

For me to acquire a degree in meteorology, I had to master calculus and the final course to master was Differential Equations. This course assisted me in understanding mathematically the fluid movement of air pertaining to meteorology, modeling, and physics part of weather.

Statistics

To acquire a Masters in Geoscience, I have had to learn extensively statistics to comprehend to occurrences of different events naturally such as hurricanes. I have learned how to apply this education to census data, geological data, and climatological data. Statistics can applied to any industry or any topic that an individual loves.
