I'd like to help you master Mathematics, Computer Science, or both. At McGill University, one of the top universities in Canada, I tutored university students in Mathematics. After moving back to the USA, I served as a substitute teacher in inner-city public schools for several years. Whenever possible, I sought out Mathematics coverages in order to share my understanding and love of this subject. As for Computer Science, I have several years of real world experience in software development.

My teaching style is to be patient and supportive while I encourage the student to strive for excellence. My goal is for the student to understand the fundamental concepts behind the problem. Knowing how to blindly apply the right procedure to get the right answer isn't enough and will just be forgotten in a year anyway.

I enjoy working with students of all ages, from elementary school to college. As a substitute teacher, I covered all grade levels from kindergarten through 12th grade. Furthermore, I have instructed students from a variety of cultural backgrounds. If needed, I speak Spanish and French at an intermediate level.

The centerpiece of my professional life has been explaining challenging concepts in STEM fields in a way that the average person can understand. As a software developer, I have frequently explained complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders. As a technical writer, I documented cutting-edge technology so that non-technical stakeholders could understand how it works. As a tutor and substitute teacher, I have helped students of all skill levels grasp challenging mathematical concepts.

Mathematics and numbers have always fascinated me. In college, I minored in Mathematics. I have a solid understanding of the K-12 mathematics curriculum, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus. I can also help you with many college-level topics, including Calculus and Differential Equations. Moreover, I can help you improve on the Mathematics section of

Elementary Math

I have extensive classroom experience as a substitute teacher. Most of my coverages were at elementary and middle schools, so I have extensive experience working with students in these grade levels. I have a Bachelor's degree with a minor in Mathematics and a 790 on the Mathematics section of the SAT. I empathize with students learning Elementary Math as to where they are in the overall K-12 Mathematics curriculum. I treat Elementary Math not only as a subject which is important for its own sake, but also as a way to develop higher-level thinking and problem solving skills.
