My whole teaching career has been in special education. Many of my students qualified for special education services due to a discrepancy in basic reading. I helped my students through this by reviewing letter sounds (both regular and irregular spellings), practicing phonological awareness (segmenting and blending sounds), and applying segmenting and blending sounds of written words.

I will be graduating with my Special Education and Elementary Education degree in December. From my classes, practicums, and teaching experiences, I have learned many different strategies for behavior modification and accommodations to help children cope inside and outside the classroom. I have had many experiences with students with ADD and ADHD. I enjoy applying the strategies that I know, that will help students learn to cope, stay on task and stay focused. I have worked for a daycare for 7 years, in which I have been the head teacher for 4 of those 7. I have had many children that have benefited from my experience, patience, and approach.

Our Time with Wendy

She was very patient with him and learn right away that he liked to play games so she made adjustments and incorporated games into their session. She is also very flexible with our schedule and we are very thankful for that. She is GREAT!

Way better than the national tutoring chain we used to use.

She zeroed in on the skills that my kids needed right away and starting working on those skills. She worked hard with them the entire time, where with the national chain there was a lot of iPad use for the reading tutoring and I didn't really like that. I want my kids to learn to pick books that they are interested in and to learn to love reading. It's not enough to just learn to read well, I want them to love reading.

Wendy is great!!

Wendy has been great! She is very friendly and personable, and has made my daughter feel at ease with her tutoring sessions. My daughter can be shy and was self-conscious about having to take algebra tutoring lessons, but she really likes Wendy, and understands what she is saying. My girl is 14, and can relate well to Wendy and feels comfortable with her. My daughter can be very outspoken so if she says she likes Wendy, she must be doing something very right!
