I began teaching junior high English when I was 21 years old. In 1999, I received my Master's Degree in English to help me advance my career. My classroom experiences have included high school students, community college students, and 4-year college and university students over the 30+ yesrs I have taught. Aside from teaching, I have many years of sales and management experience in the business world, all the way from direct sales to retail sales to wholesale sales. All I ask from my students is their agreement to let me guide them and help them achieve lifelong learning skills. I also have taught courses in study skills and career planning. I prefer not to travel far at night, but I am available during daytime hours most of the time. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My teaching experience has included courses in Career planning that featured ways to determine one's aptitude for a particular type of career and ways to find resources in order to plan a good career path. The goal is to help students find a fulfilling career, both financially and personally. I also have worked as an employment counselor and learned many tips on how to interview, prepare a resume, and land a job!!

I minored in Speech for my undergraduate degree in English; later I earned my M.A. in English. My career has included teaching speech and communication classes in high school and college for many years. During my first teaching years, I coached students in declam, which is also known as oral interpretation. My speech courses consisted of many speech types such as informative, descriptive and persuasive. Not only do I coach students on their speech's content related to organization of ideas but also their delivery including eye contact, gestures, and appearance.
