Hi. I am Michael, a tutor and instructor in mathematics and physics. I received undergraduate degrees in math and physics before completing some graduate classes in math. I have tutored my entire college career and taught multiple courses at the collegiate level, from remedial math through college algebra. I have tutored almost every math class I have ever taken, including algebra, geometry, calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra. In addition, I have tutored physics subjects such as engineering physics, quantum mechanics, and electricity and magnetism.
I believe everyone has an ability to learn. It is up to me as a tutor and teacher to find the individual needs of my students and teach to their strengths.
I have always loved teaching students for understanding. It is my philosophy that this helps students retain information and gain a greater appreciation for the subject. Simple formula memorization does students a disfavor. Math is fun, and we should treat it that way. It is my goal to show each of my students that learning is something to look forward to.
Feel free to contact me with any questions. I love working with new students and hope to make a difference in your learning experience. I am available for tutoring most days. I look forward to working with you. Hi. I am Michael, a tutor and instructor in mathematics and physics. My daughter walked away saying "I understand it! Dad I think I actually like math!!" That's all I needed to hear. Michael's depth of understanding and passion for the subject is infectious to our daughter and we are very pleased so far.
He has been working with me on a liberal arts course and has been excellent. Has a wide knowledge of mathematics and is capable of explaining the information so those who are not math smart can understand.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I scored in the 96th percentile on the ASVAB, was accepted into the NUPOC program, and spent two years in the Navy working closely with recruiters.
In college I took courses in Differential Equations, Partial Differential Equations, and Quantum Mechanics. In graduate school I took courses in Differential Geometry, Quantum Mechanics, and Advanced Linear Algebra. In all of these classes I had the highest score and have an A on my transcript. Each of these classes provide unique insight into how differential equations work and the different techniques. In fact, I am currently working on a project where I am solving the 3 dimensional wave equation (Schroedinger equation) for various potentials, namely the rigid rotator, and the hydrogen molecule, which include solutions to the Laguerre equation and solutions to the Legendre equation.
