Thanks for taking the time to check out my profile! Here's a little information about me. To date I have earned my Bachelor's degree in History and Communication with a minor in Creative Writing, my Masters in Adult Communication, and my TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certification. Since graduating from a four year college three years ago, I've been fortunate to work for nonprofit organizations. For the last two years I lived, studied and worked in West Africa. I most recently worked as an English language teacher in a private secondary school overseas. My experience also includes working with adults, which I love the most!
As your tutor, I will use our time together to target your specific needs. I do not believe it's my job to tell you what you need; rather, I would like to find out what you believe you need, areas in which you struggle, and what your goals for English language learning are. If you would like, I would like to spend one of our early sessions performing a brief assessment so that I can pinpoint areas we should focus on to improve your skills. Hands on activities are also important. On days that you do not have a specific topic you'd like to work on, I'd like for us to complete activities to help you in the four domains of English Language Learning (reading, writing, listening, and speaking). I am also able to help you in areas of proofreading, vocabulary, grammar, and other areas of English Language fluency. I have experience with English for Academic Purposes, Conversational English, and Adult Literacy.
Studying in Africa and Europe has greatly increased my appreciation for people of various cultures. I have been fortunate to work with students from Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the US. No matter your age, ethnicity, background, or religion, I would love the opportunity to help you improve your language skills and get to know you as a person.
I am happy to work with your schedule and needs. Even if you're not sure if you would like tutoring, feel free to reach out for assistance or any questions you may have. We can also meet up for a chat before beginning your first session, should you choose. Thanks and look forward to working with you! Hi there!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
