I am all about engaging with the material to know, understand, and love it. Learning is nothing without passion and logic, and I encourage that at all times with my students. It is not about how many problems you do with me, it is about how deeply we can engage with the material and understand what is going on. Rather than going shallow and wide, I go narrow and deep. We may spend 30 minutes on a single problem, but that's okay! As long as it moves the ball forward. I believe in purposeful struggle, working through difficulty, and learning to love learning.

Feel free to get in contact with me as soon as you are ready to be on the journey with me!

I have been teaching math students for almost a decade. I have taken and passed the PRAXIS Math subject test for Elementary, Middle, and High School and am qualified to teach every grade K-12. I have had extensive Professional Development and Coaching in the area of Math education, and my students consistently list me as their favorite teacher. At my last school, only 9% of the students in the 5th grade achieved a proficient score on the NJ-SLA state test before I arrived. After my first year working with that group, we raised their proficiency level to 35%.

I achieved a perfect score on the PRAXIS exams for both the Elementary and Middle Years levels. I taught 5th and 6th grade Math for 6 years before my current position as a 7th grade Math Teacher. My students consistently scored above their projected potentials on state tests, and my math classroom was rated as the best one in my school's state-wide network.
Elementary Science

Elementary Science

For 2 years, I taught an experimental Science class in which students worked collaboratively to solve problems. They researched, designed, built, tested, and rebuilt their projects. I worked in conjunction with a highly qualified Science team the entire time. I also passed the Elementary and Middle Years Science exams with perfect scores.

History

American History,

American History

I originally intended to double major in Sociology and History at Tufts, but ended up taking a minor in History instead. My focus was on American History, but more broadly on global conflict. I began teaching weekend history classes at my local synagogue when I was in college, and continued to teach that for the next decade.

I began playing cello in 2001, and have been playing and studying ever since. I attended the highly regarded New World School of the Arts in Miami, FL for high school, where I studied cello performance. I took lessons from the best teachers in the Miami region during that time. I went to college at Tufts University where I was second chair in the University Orchestra.

Extremely knowledgeable and great teacher!

Elliot really engages my 7th-grade daughter and gave her confidence; that’s what stood out the most from the first lesson!
