I tutor in a wide variety of subjects and run my own music studio teaching piano, voice & any fundamentals of music. I am brand-new to the WyzAnt network but not to tutoring. I had my first student in Music in 2004; I coached her privately in piano for a high school talent show. My private studio has grown since then and I often helped classmates in school subjects in grade school. Currently, I am tutoring beginning Math and students writing papers, through e-mail with openings in-person as well.
Students and teachers both call me bright, willing and able. I tutor with a hands-on approach by asking students questions once they have at least a basic grasp of the subject matter. I find this crucial to their success. They will most likely receive homework from me and need to bring any relevant schoolbooks for the subjects of tutoring. I keep students' attention by being fun and interesting, so they want to return. Contact me to get started! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
When it comes to composing music, my greatest strength has been the study of it. Music theory was drilled into me during many years of piano and still helps me today. I mainly write songs, and I am familiar with melody, chordal arrangement, song structure, and even lyrics. I can help you compose.
As listed in my other blurbs, music is my life and passion. I've played piano since age 6 and delve into anything related to it. Six years of experience in band, symphony, and a rock band has fine-tuned my skills to be as well rounded as possible.
I have been playing piano since I was six years old. I studied classically for 10 years. Since then, I have branched out to learn improvisation, playing by ear, sight reading, and composition. I mostly use the All-in-One Alfred Series books combined with others and customized instructional sheets I've made. Mostly, I customize your lessons to fit your needs.
I have been swimming since the tender age of 4. I started with the normal arm floaties for kids and moved up to kick boards and lessons. Following this, I swam with the YMCA Spartaquatics swim team for a few years. I still swim today when and where I can!
I have been singing since I was in grade school. In high school, I sang in a traveling Glee Club. Then I began playing piano by ear (instead of just reading music) and learning to sing pop music. I have had four semesters of singing lessons at the college level in my Music Major.
Since then, I have taught privately for a few years and use The Basics of Singing and The Performer Prepares books, warm-up sheets, and Anne Peckam's singing technique DVD (from Berklee College in Boston). I will also work with material of your choice.
