About Olivia

I am a Middle school Math Teacher with a Master's degree specialized in Mathematics for Middle Grades Education from Clemson University. I love teaching students in a positive rigorous environment. Whether you struggle with math or it is a strong skill for you, I guarantee I will make math fun and challenging. I tutor students because I know that anyone can excel in math with one-on-one instruction and as long as there is willingness and determination.

At my school, I hold after-school tutoring sessions for struggling math students from 6th-8th Grade as well as tutor students in Geometry for the High School level. I can tutor math ranging from the Elementary level up to Pre-Algebra, and Geometry. As a middle school math teacher, I understand the concepts and standards of elementary math as well as the challenges of new ideas introduced at the middle school level. I can help students prepare or gain extra experience with upper level grade work in order to prepare for Accelerated or GT courses.

Though my strong points are in math, I also have a Bachelor's Degree in the Fine Arts of Animation and Media Design, from the Art Institute of Atlanta, with a proficient skill in the use of computer programs such as Microsoft Office, some in the Adobe Suite, and including some 3D software like Zbrush and Autodesk Maya. While in school I worked in collaboration with other students and tutored them in understanding Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Zbrush, and Autodesk Maya. I know the ins and outs of Adobe photoshop and use it on a daily basis whether it is digital painting, photo editing, or creating vector images.

My goals for each session is for students to be challenged and walk away with a new skill or understanding in their toolbox. Based on the needs of each student, which we will determine together (student + tutor), we will build a plan with goals to being successful for math or computer skills. In tutoring sessions, we can work on going over homework, review for tests or exams, understanding concepts from class, reviewing standards for extra practice, or exploring higher level concepts to get ahead.

I am available for tutoring during the summer from 8 AM - 7 PM on Monday through Fridays. Starting August 8th, I will be available from 5 PM to 8 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Fridays, and 12 PM to 4 PM on Saturdays. I can travel to students or meet them online. My base rate is $40/hour, and before any lessons start we will have a free consultation meeting to discuss the needs and goals of our sessions.

Whether math or computers are your weakness or a strong point, reach out to me to make learning fun again !I look forward to hearing from you and helping you reach your potential and becoming successful!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary Math

As a middle school Math Teacher, I hold after-school tutoring sessions for students ranging from 3rd-8th grade math skills. I tutor both struggling students and those wanting to excel in math. I have in-depth understanding of the new SC College and Career Ready Math Standards and use the new teaching approaches that are being taught in schools today.
