I worked for the Greenville School District for four years after moving to South Carolina in 2006 as an Algebra/8th grade teacher. In 2010 I became an at home mom. I started doing tutoring through WyzAnt in 2011 and have enjoyed working with many different high school, middle school and college students. I individualize my approach based on the needs of the student in terms of pace, materials and methods. My goal is to see the students succeed and work with them to accomplish this.

I think with Naomi's skill and caring attitude my daughter will gain not only confidence but skills to help her study and to learn.
We began by working on understanding effective ways to learn statistics language: I will use her again for future sessions.
Solving equations, order or operations, writing out answers so that I am showing my work and practicing math facts in a fun way.
We plan to use Naomi again when school starts back. She was a great help in determining obstacles, and we expect her to be a great asset in determining a successful path forward!
Ms. Naomi has been an excellent tutor over the last few months assisting me in both Algebra 2 and Geometry. Without her my grades would not have increased as much as they did. Great Tutor!
Naomi has really helped my son with Algebra and Geometry. Math is not his strongest subject but she breaks it down into parts and he seems to understand that better than when teachers just rush through it in school. We will be seeing her again for Algebra II when school starts so we can be proactive instead of reactive.
This was my son's second semester using Naomi. She was so patient and able to refocus him. He was failing algebra when they started and ended with a 84 on his exam. I highly recommend her as a tutor and would use her again if the need arises.
Naomi is fabulous and my daughter loves her. She is going for both Algebra II and Geometry help. Naomi explains things until she understands and my daughter is not afraid to say she still doesn't get it. Naomi is very patient and will continue on one problem until the process is understood. Finally, someone who has the time to take time!!!
Naomi is an excellent tutor and has helped my son a great deal with Geometry. She is patient, encouraging and I would highly recommend her as a tutor!
Naomi connected with her 8th-grade student at their very first session, making the second session something to look forward to. After these two meetings, the student aced an algebra test for the first time this year. (She had "bombed" the previous four.) Naomi's calm authority, warm personality, diagnostic skills, and sensitivity to her student's confusions and anxieties were just exactly what we were seeking. With great optimism, confidence, and gratitude, we will continue to rely on Naomi's support of our student.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received a Master's of education degree from the University of Minnesota with a specialization in Behavior disorders including ADHD/ADD. I worked for 5 years in Minnesota in a treatment center for students that had a variety of emotional and behavior disorders. Since this was a very restrictive setting, most students had multiple disorders with the majority having ADD or ADHD as a part of their diagnosis. After that I worked one year in a mainstream school as a support to students who were in the regular classroom with over 50% of my students having either ADD or ADHD. After this I worked 4 years as an administrator in a school for students with emotional and behavior disorders. Again, over 50% had either ADD or ADHD. We developed a multitude of strategies to give these students success.
