With more than 30 years of experience as an elementary teacher, preschool teacher, and tutor for elementary and middle school students, I am prepared to help your child in any academic area in which they may be struggling. My special area of interest is elementary mathematics.

My strongest asset as a tutor is my ability to tailor lessons to individual students’ strengths and needs. My goal is to connect with your child so that together we can untangle any academic problem we encounter together.

I have a duel degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from University of Alabama. I have advanced training in mathematics education and curriculum development, and the majority of my tutoring time has been spent helping students build strong foundations in basic mathematical concepts that they can build on as they progress.

As well as being an avid reader and writer myself, I am thoroughly familiar with Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop curriculums. I am also competent in helping students strengthen their grammar and spelling skills within the workshop format.

Not all students are inherently organized, but with strong instruction and practice, study skills can be learned. My approach is to expose students to a variety of effective tools and strategies, tailored to their strengths, and guide them to choose those which work best for them. We then work together to build a full toolbox of habits and strategies they can draw from in any academic situation.
