I am a teacher in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system. I have been teaching for five years and during that time I have obtained my Master's Degree as well as had successful teaching experience. I currently teach Third Grade Reading and love every moment of it. My students are held to very high expectations and are taught to overcome obstacles and strive for the best. My goals are to continue being the best teacher I can be and eventually, become an Assistant Principal and Principal.
I enjoy teaching and working with students because each day I get to see students achieve a goal that they may not have thought possible. Academic growth is extremely important because it relates to the rest of a child's life. But personal growth is other piece of the puzzle. I enjoy tutoring because it helps students overcome difficult tasks and narrow down where a gap in knowledge may lie. Working one on one with students is a valuable time and it takes a great attitude and perseverance to make the most of it.
My specialty is teaching reading. I have taught readers of all abilities and a strength of mine is finding where students succeed but also where they may struggle. I have excellent academic growth data from my students over the past years and it's evident in my students that they are becoming better readers.
I have taught Common Core for four years now. I am comfortable with the curriculum because I know that what makes a student successful is knowing how to explain thinking. I pull information out of my students each day to teach them how to answer those higher level thinking questions.
I can be an outstanding tutor for your child because I can provide what a certified Teacher does at school in the comfort of your own home. I am also eager to get parents more involved in knowing more about how to educate their child when a teacher or tutor is not available. It is encouraging to the students when their parent sees the growth they are making.
I can be a great asset to your child's education and would love nothing more than to watch them grow and assist in that process! I am available various times and days and have several breaks throughout the school year to work more intensely with your child. I am a teacher in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
