I taught school for 32 years of my life. I was a Music Major in college and did a lot of singing as that was my concentration of study. I taught piano and voice lessons in a private setting as well as directing hand bells and children's choir.
I taught music in the public schools in Visalia, CA for several years. I taught grades 4-6 in twelve schools each week.
After four years of doing that, I decided to pursue a teaching credential for elementary education. This required an additional year of college as in the California Education system, you must have five years of education.
I received my Elementary Education Credential and began teaching in the classroom. I have taught every grade except Kindergarten and fourth grade. I even taught Middle School Math for 10 years. I found that other than music and math, which are my first loves, I love teaching 3rd grade. I spent a total of 11 years doing this.
Two years ago I retired formally, but a teacher never completely retires if you really love teaching. I love to work with children and give them the one on one attention that is next to impossible to give in a school setting.
