My students and their parents have said that I have a gift for making Mathematics make sense and even fun! I have had the privilege of teaching high school students Mathematics from Pre-Algebra to AP Calculus A/B at Naperville North H.S., an award-winning public high school, in the western suburbs of Chicago, for 30 years. Some of the most gratifying experiences has been when I have worked with struggling students in small groups or in one-to-one sessions. It has been amazing to witness their growth in mastery, confidence, and enjoyment of Mathematics! I have also had the privilege of working with younger students at a Kumon Math and Reading Center, in Naperville. Thus, I tutor students from Arithmetic to AP Calculus.
In addition to having taught students Mathematics for over 30 years, I balanced my schedule with coaching Football at NNHS (Illinois Class 8A Champions 1992 and 2007!). The skills and strategies of teaching students and coaching athletes are wonderfully complimentary. There is obviously a great deal of coaching in the classroom and a great deal of teaching on the athletic field. I have become a better Mathematics teacher/tutor as a result advancing and applying my coaching skills.
The 30-plus years of the successes of my diverse students qualify me as outstanding Mathematics tutor!
I look forward to hearing from you and assisting you in your Mathematics mastery and enjoyment! Mr. Tim R was very impressive in every regard. Extremely qualified in the field of calculus. Organized, thorough, great teaching style. Got so much accomplished in two hours. He made the material understandable and encouraged me to learn. Wonderful personality. My highest recommendation.
Tim spent an hour longer with me than originally planned. He was a great help in getting my work completed and for a math test. I received a 94 on that test and it was a good thing he was available and helped me!
Tim is an excellent tutor! I was feeling a little stressed about logarithmic differentiation, but after working a few problems from my homework with Tim it suddenly seemed a lot clearer to me. Very knowledge/helpful individual whom I will be going back to very soon. Highly recommend!
Patient, kind. Funny, knows material very well and was able to clearly explain the lesson. We are excited to work with him again.
Tim was on time and very helpful what all lessons. Very friendly and not over powering with his knowledge of the subject. His ask questions when needed feedback from student. Explained subject with examples.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
During my 34 years of teaching high school students Mathematics, I have have the privilege of teaching Algebra 1, Intro. to Algebra, and Accelerated Algebra 1 for a total of 17 years. Some of my most gratifying experiences have been tutoring smaller groups of students and tutoring individual students. It has been amazing to witness the accelerated growth in: skills, confidence, and grades for these students! Clear and concise verbal explanations, neat, logical step-by-step written problem solutions, and an edifying sense of humor are hallmarks of my tutor sessions.
