About Sally

I have been homeschooling my children since 1996. I have graduated two children and have three that I am still schooling. I have been a leader in the homeschooling community during this time, serving on several boards and directing various programs. I have worked with youth in our co-op groups, teaching creative writing, preparing a monthly student newspaper, and compiling a yearbook. I also designed and facilitated a character development program for boys.

I currently tutor in a classical education program, at both middle school and upper elementary level. I have also tutored at primary, high school, and college level. Some of my students have taken honors in the National Latin Exam and won writing competitions.

Walking with my own children through many stages of math learning and accumulating a compendium of best practices through my own experiences and those of mentors allows me to work with students of all ages and learning styles. An engineering major myself, I love math and see it as a beautiful testament to the created order, the very language of creation!

I have tutored introductory and intermediate logic since 2006. I have some computer programming experience as well.

I love language! Our English language is greatly indebted to Latin, and Spanish is now a first language for many in the United States. These two languages open the past and the present to today's student. I myself took advanced Spanish in high school and walked two of my own children through their high school Spanish. I have been tutoring Latin at home and within a community program since 2006. I tutored Henle Latin Second Year this past year and will be pushing forward to third year Latin this fall with my 16 year old.

I am able to tutor students in many other subjects as well--just ask. I am also willing to review and critique papers. I can even design a unique study plan for you or your child or help you design a course to meet your needs. I love working with students and their families to equip and encourage them in their educational endeavors. Please don't hesitate to contact me for further information or to schedule your sessions.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
