Technique is a learned style or procedure. Skill grows with expertise and education. Art is when skill advances the technique and utilizes creativity and trouble shooting to improve the process. The foundation of all of this is learning. A good teacher first assesses her student's learning style, and then develops a plan for optimization of the learning process, individualizing the teaching to the student's learning style. The educational base is like a pyramid, and with a strong foundation- the learning process builds understanding and continued educational and individual growth. My professional experiences include both business and nursing; I have two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in business and one in nursing. I had a GPA in high school of 3.99 out of 4.0, graduated valedictorian of my high school, and graduated with honors both in business and in nursing, all while raising my son as a single parent and working full time all of my life. My son recently graduated with honors with his Master's degree. I believe that the key to continual growth is to nurture and to stimulate the student with creative yet proven teaching techniques and good study habits.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
