I currently work at a private school in Mount Pleasant as an art teacher. I absolutely love it! I teach kindergarten through 6th grade. Each child is unique and individual, so I try and address each child's individual learning styling and talents. I feel my job is to facilitate each student to meeting their personal goals and help them celebrate their accomplishments.
My method for teaching art is fundamental. I teach the basic principles of drawing with charcoal or pencil which is the groundwork and a prerequisite to all art forms. While teaching, I reference famous artists with biographies and samples of works of art that pertain to that day's lesson. Drawing and shading spheres, squares and cylinders are mastered first. Then we move on to color mixing and the principle of color. It is at this time that I begin teaching tone and value.
Once these fundamentals have been mastered, then the fun begins. We paint/draw everything imaginable. Last week I brought apples to class. I had the students section off their paper into four equal segments. In the first square, I had them draw the whole apple. For the second square, I had them take a bite out of the apple and draw that image. etc. The outcome was amazing! I currently work at a private school in Mount Pleasant as an art teacher. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am an artist trained at O'More College of Design in Franklin, Tennessee. I have sold many drawings and paintings along the east coast and throughout the south. My medium varies from charcoal to pen and ink and sometimes pencil. I believe my favorite to be pen and ink although I love all mediums.
