I am an experienced teacher and tutor. I have taught Reading, ESL, Language Arts and Keyboarding. I enjoy helping students reach their fullest potential in a positive learning environment. I have taught all ages, from preschool to college level. I am very motivated and love to learn how each student thrives academically. I also like to make tutoring interesting and fun.
My Bachelor's degree is in Elementary Education and my Master's degree is in Reading. I have taught a wide range of learners from different skill sets and learning styles. I feel it is important to use formal and informal inventories when assessing learners strengths and weaknesses. There are many different types of learning styles which are specific to match each individual best. I like to discover how my students learn, in order to address their skills across all subjects.
As a former Reading and Language Arts teacher, I have experience with Reading, Writing and Vocabulary. I have also taught ESL at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. I have studied Spanish for seven years also.
I would be very honored to tutor someone on the Autism spectrum, as my son is Autistic. I feel I have done a lot of research in this area and would be able to relate on a personal level.
I look forward to meeting you and learning how I can best help you as a tutor! I am excited to help you achieve and am eager to introduce fun study skills and teaching tips. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
