I have 15 years of experience working with struggling readers. My expertise in Orton-Gillingham and Barbara Wilson techniques will allow me to assess, plan and implement strategies to improve reading at all levels of instruction. I am dependable and a hard worker and will use my resources to make your child successful.
In order to be effective, I am willing to work with the teacher's recommendations regarding your child's needs. These areas of concerns include: phonics, grammar, fluency, vocabulary, spelling, prefixes, roots, suffixes and handwriting.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a graduate of the Program of Education in Therapy for Dyslexia, February 2001, from the 32 Degree Masonic Learning Centers for Children, Inc. I completed a 45 hour program of Education in Therapeutic Techniques and Supervised Practicum of 100 hours. In addition I completed the requirements for the Advanced Level 32 Degree Masonic Orton-Gillingham Training Program. That included 45 hours of course work and 300 hour practicum, December 2007.
My subject qualification for teaching grammar was obtained through my certification from Orton-Gillingham Multi-sensory Initial Level and Advance Level. I am also certified in Barbara Wilson Initial Level. I obtained my BS in Elementary Education grades: Kindergarten-Sixth, from Bloomsburg University, PA.
I completed the Wilson Reading System Level 1 Certification on September 2011. This certification prepares teachers to effectively implement Wilson Reading Series 1-6 with students reading and spelling below grade level and those diagnosed with a language-based learning disability. I completed 90 hours of course work and 60 practicum hours of clinical experience.
