About Andrew

My love of teaching comes from my continuous desire to learn. As an individual who double majored in History and Education, as well as received concentrations in Economics, Pscyhology, and Anthropology, I know that through hard work and dedication, learning is the beginning, and not the end. I graduated with honors from Wisconsin Lutheran College and have been a social studies teacher and head advisor for 5 years, currently holding a professional teaching license in South Carolina. Throughout those years, I have had the opportunity to help hundreds of students with their study habits, notetaking skills, social studies content, and goals.

I specialize in proofreading and essays. As a History major, I consistently was required to write research papers, informational essays, analytical essays, and a 25 page research paper. I understand the importance of the writing process, which involves information collection, multiple drafts, and the final essay.

Throughout my career, I have taught World History, Macroeconomics, Honors Macroeconmics. I earned a degree in Broad Field Social Studies, allowing me to teach the following subjects: History, American History, Economics, Government, Psychology, and Sociology. I develop lessons that connect what they are learning to their current experiences, using organizers and note-taking skills to help visualize the information.

I hold myself to a high standard. As such, I reflect after each teaching experience and ask for parents and students to offer feedback.

I encourage you to contact me to discuss tutoring opportunities and ways in which we can achieve your goals for your academics.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Social Studies

I believe that I would be a good candidate for Social Studies, as I received a bachelor's degree in Broad Field Social Studies, which is a major in History, as well as Education. I received a score of a 178 out of a possible 200 on the Social Studies: Content Knowledge Praxis test. Also, I taught Macroeconomics from 2012 to 2014.
