I graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and am currently retired from the telecommunications industry. I completed over 30 credit hours in mathematics while pursuing my degree including College Algebra, Linear Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, and Differential Equations. I started tutoring my peers while completing my undergraduate degree and continued tutoring part-time for 10 years after graduation. I have always enjoyed tutoring and seeing my students gain confidence while their math abilities improved. From 2000 to 2011 I home schooled both my children thru algebra 1.

My main goal is for the student to improve their knowledge base in mathematics, to believe in their mathematical ability, and to become more confident. To do this the student must be willing to learn and to dedicate the needed time to practice. I am very patient while explaining a concept and will look for alternate ways of illustrating it until the student feels they have grasped it. I tend to do an initial evaluation of strengths and areas to focus on during our first session to develop a plan of study.

Originally from Venezuela I and am fluent in Spanish as well as English and can tutor math in either language. I encourage you to contact me for an initial lesson, you will not be disappointed.

Selected as a Top 10% Tutor for Wyzant in 2020.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have a degree in Electrical Engineering and have taken over 30 college classes in math. I have tutored my classmates while in college, continued tutoring after I graduated and home schooled both my kids through elementary school.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have been tutoring Algebra 1 for many years. Pre-algebra is a common name for a course in middle school mathematics to prepare students for the study of Algebra 1. As a tutor of Algebra I know what concepts are important in Pre-algebra to build a strong foundation for the later courses. These topics include several broad subjects: review of natural number arithmetic, new types of numbers such as integers, fractions, decimals and negative numbers. These math concepts are the foundation for harder concepts in Algebra 1.

Incredible math tutor

Carol was the best math tutor I have ever had. She is very kind and professional. Her extra attention to detail was amazing. I had her teach me math for the ASVAB and my score went up like a rocket. She really does an excellent job.

Great tutor!

Carol explained the problems very well and in great detail where I could understand and she had me practice over and over the same kind of problems to make sure I completely had it, which I loved! She also takes her personal time to send me papers to work on in between tutoring sessions which is very helpful!

She is helping me pass my ged math exam. Even after only one lesson I feel better about moving forward. Before we got started she sent me some work to figure out where we need to focus our work together. I already feel confident
