University of South Carolina (Hospitality Mngmnt)
My name is Blair, and I am a junior at the University of South Carolina-Beaufort. I am hoping to help students improve their Spanish and English skills and conquer mathematics. My senior year of high school, I was an assistant teacher for level 2 and 3 Spanish and helped students to study, practice their vocabulary, and learn to complete assignments and projects effectively and independently by the end of the term.
I have been taking Spanish for many years and I can understand a student's struggle through this subject, even if they dislike the class. (To be honest, I didn't like Spanish my first year of taking it) I learned that even though a second language can be difficult, it's not impossible and there are many ways to make it more exciting, relatable, and easy to understand. Along with help in Spanish, I am also offering tutoring in elementary math, algebra, and English courses. I am free every afternoon and evening to assist students and can meet anywhere.
I am extremely patient. I find that math is a subject that involves a lot of patience and these are skills that I have practiced for years. I will help a student no matter how many methods it takes, and no matter how many times we need to go over a problem. I have learned that everyone learns in a different way, and that just because a subject may seem difficult, doesn't mean that it is impossible. I love tutoring because it's a learning experience for both the student and the tutor. When you find the right method, you can achieve anything, and that is how I teach and help students to learn and grow. I am available by phone and by email. My schedule is very flexible, so don't be afraid to reach out and get in touch with me to schedule a session.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Amazing tutor. She was patient and understanding. I learned a lot of new ways of solving problems. I recommend her to anyone that is struggling with math or just needs a refresher.
First and foremost, I appreciated her willingness to listen, while providing guidance through the initial assessment process, which helped to increase my comfort level in taking on this new challenge. She demonstrated a wonderful level of patience and professionalism. I look forward to having her conduct future tutoring sessions.
Blair is very patient with my four year old. She is doing a great job reviewing with my 7 year old. She is also teaching him new words and terms. She is great with younger children!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Phonics is a very important skill to have, both for speaking and for reading effectively. This skill should be taught at an early age, but there are still those individuals who may need help in this area. Once this skill is achieved, activities such as reading can become much easier and the student can feel more capable.
I have been in many reading groups throughout my time in elementary, middle, and high school. I think reading comprehension can be very difficult for most, but I can lay out a piece of text and make sense of it. I take each reading section by section until I can fully understand every sense of the text.
I have been taking Spanish for almost 15 years and I was an assistant Spanish teacher my senior year of high school.
