After university, I took a side job tutoring for a test prep academy and discovered I loved teaching. I was soon promoted to training new teachers. My passion for teaching carried me into and through graduate studies in history and theology at Villanova and Princeton.
While in grad school, above and beyond my duties as teacher and teacher's assistant, I tutored other students in Ancient Greek and Latin, helping them pass placement exams, excel in courses, and prepare for professional careers as ministers, historians, and philosophers. I have been teaching and tutoring for 15 years now and have no intention of stopping.
After learning Ancient Greek in university, I taught myself Latin to an advanced level. I am currently a professional translator and historian, using ancient languages daily in my research. Because of this, I understand the challenges of language learning for both traditional students and independent learners. Furthermore, I have studied second language acquisition research and developed tools and techniques to make language learning as effective, efficient, and enjoyable as possible. I have experience with popular language curricula, but I have also designed my own materials that can complement or replace standard textbooks.
Whether you are an absolute beginner or already advanced, I can work with you to develop a plan for reaching your language learning goals. Contact me and see if my services are right for you!
