Effective and Enthusiastic Tutor of Elementary and Middle School

I am a highly qualified teacher in Reading, Gifted and Talented, Elementary Education, and Middle School Language Arts. An enthusiastic group of GED students, in a program I volunteered for, motivated me to return to teaching sixteen years ago. When three students passed the GED and applied to a nursing school I knew my future path. The stark need for reading and writing skills pushed me into the field of Language and Literacy. Since that turning point, I have worked in a wide variety of school environments, both online and in the classroom, with diverse groups of students successfully building literacy and life skills. My strengths lie in motivation, communication, and accommodation, along with an in-depth knowledge of curriculum and lesson development. Recently retired from teaching I still experience that "Wow!" when students meet success. My goal as a tutor is to continue working with learners to achieve success in their educational endeavors.

I have a Masters from the University of South Carolina and a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alberta. I create strong relationships with my students and have worked as an Elementary Classroom teacher as well as Reading Specialist. English Language Arts in the Elementary and Middle school are crucial to success in all subjects. My experience includes teaching reading, writing, and research in combination as well as collaborating across subject areas with an emphasis on informational reading and writing.
