About Deborah I.

I have an MS degree in Criminology and a BA degree in Psychology and have taught Criminal Justice courses in technical college for the past 10 years. I am also a former probation director for the state Dept. of Juvenile Justice. All of these studies and experience have made me an exemplary writer for business and academic purposes. I've also developed an extensive understanding of the social sciences as they apply to modern social and criminal justice policy.

I enjoy tutoring as assisting high school and college students in writing papers, concentrating on organization, style, flow, and grammar strategies. For those in the social sciences, including sociology and criminology, I can assist in distilling complex concepts, making them easier to break down into real-world applicable examples and structured outlines to help with studying.

Most importantly, I love working with students to help them develop their own academic strengths.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Sociology

I have a BA in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. My post-graduate degree is an MS in Criminal Justice with significant academic hours in Criminology and the Sociology of crime. I have presented papers at national conferences of academic and professional Criminal Justice organizations.

I am retired from the S.C. Dept. of Juvenile Justice, where I was a county probation director and worked in the intensive supervision program for juveniles which was based in the concepts of restorative justice and the best practices of social work.

I have taught in the above subject areas at Trident Technical college for approximately ten years.
