I have many years of university teaching and mentoring experience and experience with adult learners in a workplace setting and with individuals with special needs. One of my strongest skills is the ability to make difficult concepts understandable to learners through examples that connect with their real life experiences. I love to teach and to learn. I am able to quickly find the most successful approaches with each unique student.
My teaching experience is very broad. I have taught statistics, advanced statistics, introduction to psychology, social psychology, health psychology, research methods and advanced research methods at the university level. I have trained employees working with special needs clients in best practices, person centered approaches and all agency policies and procedures. I have conducted leadership training workshops for supervisors. I have also worked extensively with people experiencing mental illness and/or intellectual/physical disabilities. I have abundant patience and an unwavering positive attitude and approach. I love to help others to learn and see them develop confidence and a lofelong love of learning.

Most of the university courses I taught had a substantial writing component because I see effective written communication as an essential skill in almost any work domain. I have many years of experience providing effective feedback and mentoring to help my students to become excellent writers. As a teacher and trainer, I have engaged in public speaking with large and small groups throughout my career. Training employees has allowed me to master the concepts and tecniques of adult learning which I could teach to students to help them make their presentations engaging, memorable and effective. I am an avid reader in a vast range of subjects.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
