My name is Michael. I am thirty-two years old and have a broad and diverse background in ESL and English instruction. I have over two years and 3,000 hours of teaching experience in both formal and informal environments. Furthermore, I have taught classes in all four skills areas including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. My students ranged from elementary, middle, high school, college, and adult learners. I have taught in elementary schools, universities, and professional businesses. I believe with my skills gained through my experience of teaching will be of value to your English learning journey.
When it comes to learning a new language, I believe that it is a process that doesn't happen overnight. It requires discipline and consistency. I prefer to take an organic approach in my teaching style implementing a broad range of teaching methods. Learning a language is much more like growing a garden than building a robot. It's not simply based on rote memorization. It ultimately requires changing the way you think as you learn to process in a new language. Having studied Greek, Hebrew, and Korean languages, I am very familiar with the learning process and am able to empathize with those learning a new language. That said, I am a passionate and committed teacher and hope that you consider me for your ESL/English needs!
I look forward to meeting you and guiding you on your journey to mastering the English language.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a B.A. in Bible and Theology and have completed 45/60 hours towards an M.A. in Biblical Studies.

I have over two years of experience teaching phonics to beginning English speakers ranging from kindergarten to adult ESL learners. I generally start with consonants then teach short vowels, long vowels, and blends. As an ESL/English teacher, it all starts with phonics and laying a good foundation to build on.
