About Sean

Originally from Upstate New York, I received a Bachelor's in Anthropology and Certification in Secondary Social Studies Education. I moved to South Carolina and worked in the public schools for five years. Since then, I worked in the cable industry and have very strong technology skills. I would be willing to try online assignments as well as the traditional one-on-one lessons.

I enjoy working with all types of students to help them achieve a level of comprehension and knowledge so they have success in the classroom. From below-basic proficiency and Learning Disabled, Special Education students to College bound, Gifted&Talented students, I have worked with students of all different ability levels, ages, and backgrounds.

How can I help you?

I hold a bachelor's degree and have experience in the field on several archaeological digs.

I have worked with Windows since its inception, and have 10 years experience servicing customers computers.

I have Certification in Secondary Social Studies Education and taught grade 7 - 12.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Anthropology

I hold a Bachelor's of Arts in Anthropology, with experience at both the NYS Museum Archaeological Field School and the South Carolina Institute of Anthropology and Archaeology. I have volunteered at a local elementary school during their reenactment of the First Thanksgiving, which included a lesson on the local family tribe of Native Americans. Anthropology helps understand the history of a people, and can be used to tell the whole story rather than the dry textbook information.

Microsoft Windows

I have been using computers before Windows even was invented! Working as a broadband professional for over ten years, I have knowledge of most Windows systems, as well as Apple Macintosh. Hardware and software, wireless peripherals, as well as broadband connections are all just fun to hook up! I've always been good at technology; if am not familiar with a specific program, for instance, I can usually master it within the hour.

Social Studies

After completing a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, I took courses to become Certified in Secondary Social Studies Education, 7 - 12. I began substitute teaching in the city of Buffalo, NY, and worked all over Western New York for various schools districts at all levels and subjects. Upon moving to South Carolina, I worked for a total of five years as a Social Studies Teacher with experience in World and American History, and Government, as well as electives such as Ethnic Groups and Law.
